Photos of 21-year-old Georgia State University student Monique Priester have
been posted on social media and around the university's campus in hopes
of locating the young woman who went missing last week.
She was last heard from on Friday evening while reportedly taking an Uber car home. Law enforcement and Uber are searching for Priester, and as of now, all parties have come up short.
Priester's mother, Jacqueline VanLoo-Al Kush, told WSBTV2 that she left her stepfather's home around 1:30 p.m. on Friday before heading to campus for a school study group. Hours later, the young woman said she called an Uber to go home. While logic would lead one to wonder where her Uber driver is, Monique's mother says that while her daughter claimed to take the ride-sharing service home, she hasn't been able to find evidence of a charge on her account.
Priester called her mother at 6:15 p.m. — her mother said that there was no sign of panic or concern in her daughter's voice. Her mother said that when Monique called, she was using the Uber group ride option and was waiting, with the driver, to pick up the last person on the ride.
VanLoo-Al Kush also told the local news station that her daughter suffers from depression and anxiety disorders, and is on medication.
"I'm panicked. I'm hoping that she's safe," VanLoo-Al Kush said.
Uber released a statement regarding the missing person, saying, "We are working directly with local law enforcement to provide any assistance or information that could help them locate Ms. Priester and get her safely home."
As the search continues, police have said that there is no indication of any foul play. Her friend David Howard thinks it is unlike Priester to simply walk off. “That doesn’t sound like Mo,” Howard said as he hung up missing person fliers. “That doesn’t make any sense.”
